Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I meet for my shuttle?

We pick up at the parking lot at 715 West 300 North, Richfield, UT. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled departure so we can load and secure your bikes.

How long is the shuttle ride to the trailhead?

Travel time is between 30 and 60 minutes depending on which drop point you choose along Spinal Tap.

How long does it take to ride Spinal Tap?

Most experienced riders complete the full 18 miles in 2.5 to 3 hours. Plan accordingly.

Do you shuttle e-bikes?

No. Due to Forest Service restrictions on Fishlake National Forest land, we are not able to transport e-bikes. This is a Forest Service rule, not our preference — we'd love to shuttle e-bikes if/when the rule changes.

What days do you run shuttles?

Scheduled shuttles run daily during the season. Weather depending.

When does the season start and end?

The full Spinal Tap trail typically opens in mid-June and runs through October, weather permitting. Lower elevation rides may be possible earlier and later in the season. Follow our Instagram @riderichfield for real-time updates.

What's the rider mimimum?

We require a 2-rider minimum per time slot. If you're a single rider making the first booking for a time slot, you'll be required to book for 2. If more people book after that, you will be refunded for your ghost seat.

What's your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made more than 24 hours before your scheduled shuttle receive a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable. We reserve the right to cancel shuttles due to weather, road conditions, or trail closures — in those cases you'll receive a full refund.

What should I bring?

  • Your bike (in good working order)
  • Helmet and protective gear
  • Water
  • Snacks/lunch
  • Trail tools and a spare tube
  • Layers — it's cold up top and hot down low
  • Sunscreen
  • Cash for tips (always appreciated, never required)

Do you offer bike rentals?

We don't, but our partner Jorgensen Powersports in Richfield does. They also handle repairs.

What if I'm new to mountain biking?

Spinal Tap is not a beginner trail — it's an advanced enduro descent with technical sections. If you're newer to the sport, the lower-elevation Pahvant trails offer better beginner and intermediate options. Email us if you're not sure what you can handle and we'll give you an honest take.

Are you insured and permitted?

Yes. We operate under Forest Service Permit #FIL2301 and carry full commercial insurance.

How do I support local trails?

Every shuttle we run contributes to the Richfield Trails Committee. You can also donate directly to support trail maintenance and new trail building.
